The economy in the territory of the municipality of Tetova last several years has marked increased development. As the main developed activities and in the meantime the industrial pillars of Tetova: the industry of the wood processing, construction and construction materials, agriculture, the textile industry etc. Furthermore, constant development of economy can be noticed from the permanent achievements of the number of the business subjects that operate in the region of Tetova, where 98% of them belong to small and medial entrepreneurship, and only 2% to big ones.

Business subjects who past several years contributed on the development of the economy in the region of Tetova, are of the sectors of: wood industry (furniture), construction, food industry and the industry of textile .These sectors with their capacity and technology became competitive not only on the market of Macedonia but also in Balkans and wider. Some of the enterprises of furniture production for housekeeping and office furniture are equipped with culminate technology CNC and have potential to approach to international markets.

Construction, especially during the six past years, has thriftily flourished in the region of Tetova, where a large numbers of qualitative business-residential constructions were made. It’s important to highlight that all these new buildings are accomplished by private enterprises, with private investments and with technical-technological capacity.

The economic development of the state is achieved through good strategic planning (long term), which consists of a large number of components, measures, tasks and targets that must be achieved. Local economic development and its strategic planning present one of the main components and a guide to general socio-economic development.

Local economic development presents a process by which the municipality continuously is improving the quality of life of its citizens, through the creating an economic and social welfare. Therefore, this process should begin with the making of strategy.

Strategy Planning represents a system, through which municipalities take concrete steps for economic development and define the vision and strategic goals through the definition of development objectives and concrete measures, respectively design tasks and their realization.

Favorable climatic conditions, and relief in the Pollog region, enable the creation of optimal conditions for the development of agriculture in the municipality of Tetova.

As a result of good climatic conditions and the quality of soil, agricultural products that are cultivated in this region, have special taste and quality.

It is worth mentioning the beans of Tetova, Tetova apple, tomatoes, peppers, onions etc., by which the Tetovo region is known in the country and abroad.

For the economy of the forest fund in the municipality of Tetova cares NP "Makedonski shumi", EP "Leshnica" - Tetova.

The enterprise deals with the exploitation of forests, their protection and the cultivation of new young plants. 80% of the timber serves for heating, so the supply with fire wood is made twice a year, in spring and in autumn; 10% is used for heating primary and secondary schools located in the territory of the Municipality of Tetovo; 10 % is used in wood industry.
