The economy in the territory of the municipality of Tetova last several years has marked increased development. As the main developed activities and in the meantime the industrial pillars of Tetova: the industry of the wood processing, construction and construction materials, agriculture, the textile industry etc. Furthermore, constant development of economy can be noticed from the permanent achievements of the number of the business subjects that operate in the region of Tetova, where 98% of them belong to small and medial entrepreneurship, and only 2% to big ones.

Business subjects who past several years contributed on the development of the economy in the region of Tetova, are of the sectors of: wood industry (furniture), construction, food industry and the industry of textile .These sectors with their capacity and technology became competitive not only on the market of Macedonia but also in Balkans and wider. Some of the enterprises of furniture production for housekeeping and office furniture are equipped with culminate technology CNC and have potential to approach to international markets.

Construction, especially during the six past years, has thriftily flourished in the region of Tetova, where a large numbers of qualitative business-residential constructions were made. It’s important to highlight that all these new buildings are accomplished by private enterprises, with private investments and with technical-technological capacity.The food industry also has its capacities and potentials in the municipality of Tetova. With the quality of the milk productions of the municipality of Tetova, already stands as a competitor on the overall market of milk and milk productions. The enterprises, producers of milk and milk productions cover the needs the consummators of the municipality of Tetova and wider.

Beside these enterprises, in the municipality of Tetova operate enterprises of meat processing and meat productions, production of equipment for food products.

The textile industry also has a long tradition in the municipality Tetova, for which the greatest merit belongs to Textile Combine “Teteks”. Furthermore, continues with establishment of private textile enterprises. Currently, the most dominant enterprises work according to the so called system LON, produce (work) for foreign partners.

The importance of the enterprises of the four above mentioned sectors is great, not only because of their participation in the overall number of the business subjects in the municipality of Tetova, but also for the potential they have for exposure on the regional and international markets.

• Enterprises emphasize the need and the great importance between the same type of enterprises through contacts, meeting organizations and through various solutions of common interest;

• Large number of enterprises plan to invest in the improvement of the existing buildings and construct new ones and the widening of the product capacities;

• Inner placement of the productions of the enterprises represent an important segment during the exposure of the enterprises on markets, whereas some enterprises have provided placement for their productions;

• In the municipality of Tetova there are good conditions for leadership of the business, but also, the cooperation between enterprises and the local self-governance should be intensified and deepened, with the intention of climate improvement of the business in the municipality and the economic development.

According to our predictions and analysis, but the need of the overall development of the Municipality of Tetova, as a economic branch for development are:
• The development of small and medium enterprises and the investments;
• Touristic development;
• Agriculture development.
