For the economy of the forest fund in the municipality of Tetova cares NP "Makedonski shumi", EP "Leshnica" - Tetova.

The enterprise deals with the exploitation of forests, their protection and the cultivation of new young plants. 80% of the timber serves for heating, so the supply with fire wood is made twice a year, in spring and in autumn; 10% is used for heating primary and secondary schools located in the territory of the Municipality of Tetovo; 10 % is used in wood industry.Protection of forests means preservation of forest from illegal felling, protection from phytoplankton diseases and fire, which are more active during the summer and cause losses to the forest fund.

Reproduction of the forests means growing new saplings and cutting the forests in particular areas.

In the Municipality of Tetova, except the main forest products we also have products such as blueberries, menthol, different plants from which we get healing teas, etc.

Most common types of trees in this region are beech, oak and hornbeam, which participate with about 90% of the total forest funds.
