The Mosque of Pasha, which is also known as Colorful Mosque is located on the right side of the river Pena (Artat), at the old part of the city where also are located other objects of the religious architecture, civil and Islamic as: Turkish Hamam of the City, the Stone Bridge, important for the esthetic and artistic values and for the historical inscriptions they contain.
The Mosque is built in 1495 whereas rebuilt form bases and widened in 1833 by Abdurrahman pasha, the son of Rexhep pasha, who were the protectors of Tetova, who were great well-wishers of arts.
All the indicators we understand from the inscriptions saved upon the entrance of the Mosque as well as the mark of the grave which is saved in the turbe built in the courtyard of the mosque.
These well known pashas were active in Tetova in the first half of XIX century, have buit and rebuilt the fortress of the city and Arabati Baba tekke.
With the expedite geostrategic position, being in the crossroads and the fertile soil of pollog, Tetova attracted the attention of various conquerors. In the XV century this city was invaded by Turks. With the coming of the Turks the culture developed. Its center became the Complex of Bektashian Tekke–HARABATI (Tekke) 1538 – 1548 built by Sersem Ali Dede.
The ottomans gave to Tetova lots of public and religious objects of the Islamic culture: mosque, Tekke, public kitchens for the poor, hamams (public bathrooms), fountains etc.
It is worth mentioning the library of Teqe-Arabat (XVIII-XIX century) because there is developed the culture and education parallel with the Islam religion. In this library, intellectual works were copied with chosen calligraphy of that time, which later were decorated with ornaments covered with leather.
The Tetovo fortress is located on the top of Baltepes hill, above Tetovo. It was build on 1820 from Abdurahman Pasha. This cultural monument presents a rare beauty from the old period. It has a very complex composition (contains five 'saraj', big kitchens, bathrooms, a well and three exit tunnels), it presents the influence of Osman architecture, but unfortunately it is ruined through many conflicts.
Next to the place called Ceshma e Balezes on 1933, was found the statue of bronzed dancer from the llir period, VI century b,c, which is the oldest archaeological finding in Tetovo region. The dimensions of the statue are 9 cm high and 4 cm wide, it could be found in the Skopje museum
St. Kiril and Metodij church is placed on the part of the old town of Tetovo, it is one of the most beautiful orthodox temple not only in Pollog valley, also within Macedonia. The building has started in 1903, finished in 1918 and blessed on 12 June 1925.
