The Colorful Mosque

The Mosque of Pasha, which is also known as Colorful Mosque is located on the right side of the river Pena (Artat), at the old part of the city where also are located other objects of the religious architecture, civil and Islamic as: Turkish Hamam of the City, the Stone Bridge, important for the esthetic and artistic values and for the historical inscriptions they contain.

The Mosque is built in 1495 whereas rebuilt form bases and widened in 1833 by Abdurrahman pasha, the son of Rexhep pasha, who were the protectors of Tetova, who were great well-wishers of arts.
All the indicators we understand from the inscriptions saved upon the entrance of the Mosque as well as the mark of the grave which is saved in the turbe built in the courtyard of the mosque.
These well known pashas were active in Tetova in the first half of XIX century, have buit and rebuilt the fortress of the city and Arabati Baba tekke.
In the octagonal tyrbe, in which are berried ms. Hurshide and Mensure. The first one died in 1534. It is supposed that they were the donators of the previous mosque of XV century. Near the mosque is located the fountain, which has a dabble function: to take ablution before prayer and as drinking fountain for the needs of the population.
