Good geostrategic position, situated at the crossroads and Pollog with fertile soil, Tetova was drawing the attention of various invaders. In XV century the Turks conquered this city. With the arrival of Turks, the culture was developed. Its seat becomes the compound of Bektashian Teqe (masjid) - HARABATI 1538-1548 built by Sersem Ali Dede.

The Ottomans gave to Tetova many public religious and culture objects of Islam: mosques, masjids, public kitchens for the poor, hammams (public bathrooms), fountains etc.

It is noteworthy that in Arabati Teke library XVIII - XIX century because the culture and education were developed alongside the Islam religion. In this library the copying work of intellectuals of the time was written with calligraphy which later were ornamented and wrapped in animal skin.
We have the Tetova Castle in Tetova, located at the top of Baltepe hill right above Tetova. It was built in 1820 by Abdurrahman Pasha. This culture object represents a rare beauty of the past.
This object of culture represents a rare beauty of the past. Its composition is complex (the interior has five Sarajs (palaces), large kitchens, bathrooms, a well in the middle and three tunnels to exit) which suffered numerous damages during the wars. In Tetova there is also "Koco Racin" library, memorial museum, historic archive etc.

Tetova today is enriched by the Culture Center, built on the foundations of the mosque of Çarshia in 1975. In this center parallel are developed cultures of all nationalities living in this part, through various cultural activities such as musical activities, the drama, the art, activities related to literature, etc..

Musical activities are worth mentioning various choirs such as mixed youth choir, women and men choirs and different cultural and artistic associations. We must mention the world successes of these valuable choirs such as mixed youth choir, who under the conduction of prof. Arifhikmet Xhemaili, won the silver medal in the World Olympics in Linz in Austria in 2000, and in 2001 in Wermigerode in Germany won the gold medal.

From cultural artistic associations most distinguished are: SH.KA "Xheladin Zeqiri" (1949; Albanian), "Iljo-Antevski Smok" (Macedonian) and "Yeni Hayat" (Turkish).

When talking about Albanian music in Tetova and wider, we must mention the famous music band in all Albanian lands Elita 5.

In the service of theater activities, the drama studio for children, youth and adults are functioning. Within the Culture Center is also functioning the art studio in which amateur and professional painters are being affirmed and developed, since various art exhibitions are being organized.

Also literary activities are being held by literary clubs as the KL "Literary Club 94" (Albanian) and Macedonian one "Kiril Pejçinoviq" who organize various book promotions, literary evenings followed by reading the prose and poetry dedicated to our writers and other solemn occasions, announce competitions of the work of young literature artists etc.
