The Mehmed Bey’s Mansion has an oriental style. The function of the residential environment includes: the need to abide, to sleep, to eat, etc. All these form the basic function of a urban house.

From the first half of the 19^th century, the Mehmed Bey’s mansion is in the ownership of the ‘Palloshi’ family. The building is in the centre of Tetovo, and represents a monumental structure together with the Painted mosque, the double Hamam, and Pasha’s bridge over the Shkumbin river. The entrance of the living space is from the southeast.

The kitchen is in the ground floor, with a big chimney where the food was prepared. There were two basements where the food was kept and four big rooms changeable according to the family’s needs. The most decorative part is the rosette in the central part of the ceiling, decorated with grape leaves; the internal part is filled with flowers and circles covered with crowns from the leaves.

The interior consists of many decorations in the doors, windows, chimneys, etc. The guests’ room is distinct from the other rooms in the floor, because of the preservation of all the decorations and the rosettes in the stucco style and with wooden frames prepared by the local carpenter.

The general architecture picture of the building represents a harmonious entity. All the areas are nicely furnished with doors and decorated ceilings. The consistence of this much variety demonstrates the wealth of the owners, and their huge families.
